Rent this beautiful Authentic property owned by the famous Mutabaruka. The 40 or so stairs leading up to Villa Mutamba has been described as the “Stairway to Heaven”.
Nestled in Jamaica’s last resort-free stretch of sunny, sunny beach, Paradise Mutamba offers affordable & communal self-catering accommodation for the independent and sociable traveler. Treasure Beach is a quiet fishing village where you can frolic in the sand and sea all day and stay up under the stars all night. Best of all, it hardly ever rains in Treasure Beach and Villa Mutamba is literally a two minute walk to the ocean.
A very accurate description for this Rootsie villa situated on the side of a beautifully landscaped rock hillside of cacti, Licnum Vitae (iron wood) and Cassin Trees and has the most breathtaking view (almost throughout the villa) of the turquoise coloured Caribbean sea.
Catherine is available to be employed by you. She shops for food, prepares meals and tends to other general household chores. She is very calm, willing and respectful and lives right at the foot of “The Stairway to Heaven”.
Boat rides by Ossie are available by making reservations a day in advance. Experience the dolphins on route to Pelican Bar, situated on a little sand band in the middle of the ocean. Alligator Pond and the Black River Safari are other interesting boat ventures.
The villa is an open-concept, communal space with a shared kitchen and bathroom. There is also a second outdoor shower and sink. All organic waste — fruit & vegetable peels, bones from meat or fish — is to be thrown into the side-bush for the neighboring goats and cats. All non-organic waste — plastic, glass, cartons, etc — are to be washed out and gathered in a bag and discarded in the drum at the front. Bear in mind that although the Villa Mutamba is quite cozy and comfortable, we are still more or less situated in the wild. Please conserve water. Staggered showers, hand-washing, dish-washing only please.
You’ll find a lot to do and a lot not to do here in Billy’s Bay. All of the beaches around Treasure Beach are publicly accessible and we’ll let you know the best swimming spots. There are a couple of restaurants and a small shop next to the villa and more restaurants in Frenchman’s Bay. You can also talk to our neighbor if you want to arrange an authentic Jamaican meal at home.
