Pon de Rock – near Treasure Beach

Pon de Rock is located in Fort Charles, a small community near Treasure Beach. This is a very quiet coastal area with spectacular views on to the longest natural beach of the south coast of Jamaica.

Pon de Rock is a property with three Jamaican style studios, each suitable for two with an ocean-front view, brilliantly clear air and an unspoiled atmosphere. The rooms are well furnished and the kitchens fully equipped.

You will find a gazebo with a table and benches in front of each house and shady sitting areas under the trees.

The studios are surrounded by wonderful rock formations with nearby, accessible caves which are ready for you to explore. The higher you climb the better the view of the Caribbean and Jamaica’s south coast. There are great views over the Fort Charles Beach and as likely as not, you will have them to yourself.

The property has many shady areas with trees and agaves, where you can sit and watch the pelicans and dolphins and have a “sundowner”. We have beautiful sunsets. Great snorkelling is available all along the coastline.

The Fort Charles Beach is within walking distance (15 min) or 5 min by bike. There is another small beach with lots of shells and easy access just 5 minutes from us.

From Pon de Rock to Frenchman´s Bay and to the restaurants there its approx. 7 km. To “Desorene’s Cookshop” and “Strikie-T’s Jerk Restaurant” in Billy´s Bay, where they sell delicious food and to a small shop that sells basics, approx. 4 km. Cars, bikes and scooters can be rented in Billy´s Bay and at Treasure Beach.

It is self-catering, but Teica, our live-out housekeeper and cook can be hired for an extra charge. Laundry service is available upon request.

Pon de Rock is 2,5 hrs from Montego Bay and 1 hr from Mandeville. We offer airport transfer and would be happy to assist you with your organization.

We provide our guests with a mobile phone as well as contact numbers of local taxi drivers and car & bike rentals etc. We will send you an info package to facilitate your organization. Mrs. Gabriele Clarke, our manager, Mr. Kevin Josephs, our caretaker and Mrs. Tecia Lewis the housekeeper are there for you when you have a question

The Blue House

This is a very friendly, well furnished room with a split King-size bed in the sleeping area.

The kitchen is well equipped with all cooking utensils, a fridge with freezer, a gas stove and oven, powered by bottled gas. There is a kitchen bar with stools and a small table. Bathroom with a shower/WC and additionally there is a separate outdoor shower, where you can rinse off the sand from the beach. No hot running water, but we have a camping solar shower.

No TV. Electric power supply 110 & 220 Volts. The windows are bug-screened and a ceiling-fan as well as a mobile phone are available. There is a safe available for a small fee. A radio, CDs and books are available in the house.

Rates: 350 Euros (525 US$) per week, daily or monthly rates on request (min. 3 nights)

 

 

The Yellow House

This house consists of two independant studios with separate entrance.

Flo’s is the basis from where we operate when we are there. This is a very lofty, naturally ventilated room, well furnished with beautiful bamboo furniture and with a Queen-size bed. There is a table with chairs and armchairs. Large window with panoramic view.

The separate kitchen with bar is rustic and equipped with all cooking utensils, a fridge with freezer, a gas stove and oven, powered by bottled gas. There is a kitchen bar with stools. The bath has a shower and WC and additionally there is a separate outdoor shower, where you can rinse off the sand from the beach. There is an outdoor patio which we call “the deck”.

The balcony room is new. First thing when you open your eyes in the morning is the great panoramic view of the Caribbean. The room is very airy and the balcony door can be opened completely. The kitchen is equally equipped with all cooking utensils.The bathroom is very spacious and with a wonderful seaview.

Hot water is currently not available until our next visit. The windows are bug-screened and a ceiling-fan is available. A safe can be used for a small fee. No TV. Electric power supply 110 & 220 Volts.

Cleaning and cooking services by our housekkeper Tecia Lewis is available at extra cost. Tecia knows all the secrets about jamaican cuisine.

Rates: each studio 90,- US/ night for two persons (minimum stay: 3 nights).
